Game Developer's Conference 2009.

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/25/joystiq-live-from-nintendos-gdc-2009-keynote/

The things Nintendo has unveiled are:

-How the "Death Spiral" works. Financial Pressure + Less time + Poorer Sales + Poorer Quality = Death Spiral

-How the "Upward Spiral" works. Ideas are Everywhere + Personal Communication + Prototype Stage + Small teams + Multiple Projects + Trial & Error + mass production = Upward Spiral. Also called "Miyamoto's Way"

-How random employee kidnappping works. Read the article for more info.

-The creators of Warioware: Touched & Warioware: Twisted teamed up to work on a Rhythm game.

-Wii system version 4.0. You arn't limited to 1GB & 2GB SD cards anymore. The biggest SD cards you can use are the 32 GB cards. You can also download the content straight to the Wii's SD card & use them directly off the card with just a short loading time for both of these. The update can be downloaded today.

-Two Wiiware games: "Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord" & "Final Fantasy IV: The After Years" will be coming to Wiiware soon. Final Fantasy I, II, III, IV, V, & VI will be available for download on the Wii Virtual Console in Japan while the North American Virtual Console will get Final Fantasy I & IV. No word yet if Final Fantasy II, III, V, or VI will come to the North American virtual console.

-Two DSi games, "WarioWare Snaps", & "Moving Memo" will be coming to the Nintendo DSi store soon.

-Arcade Games will be coming to the Virtual Console. Mappy, Space Harrier, Star Force, The Return of Ishtar, Gaplus, Emeraldia, Solvalou, & The Tower of Druaga will be the 1st ones. Mappy, Star Force, Gaplus, & The Tower of Druaga are already available on the North American Virtual Console Today.

-A new Legend of Zelda game will be available for the DS later this year. It's called "The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks" though the name might be changed later on.

An interview with Maddox.

http://www.mygamer.com/index.php?platform=&publisher=&developer=&game=&page=interviews&mode=viewinterviews&id=49

I really think that Maddox has a good point throughout the interview.

I agree with this the most:

"The Wii is the best thing to happen to gaming since the original NES. And if you don't like the Wii, then this is really going to piss you off: Nintendo has single-handedly saved the video game industry. No other company is bothering to move gaming forward like Nintendo is. There are only a handful of genres in gaming, and clearly Sony and Microsoft don't give a shit about any of them except for sports and FPS. I'm so sick and tired of sports and FPS games, and if it were up to Microsoft & Sony, they'd keep milking these tired genres dry and run the entire industry into the ground. I mean, I get it that the industry goes through trends and a few years ago it was RPGs, 2D fighters, shooters, platformers, etc. But this FPS craze has been going on basically since Quake came out on PC. On the Wii, we not only see a representation of every genre of gaming, but we see new genres that didn't exist before the Wii came along (surgery, cooking, balance, etc).

Nintendo took the novelty of a motion-sensing controller and turned it into a solid gameplay element in a lot of their games. Before it came out, people couldn't imagine how to play games with a controller that looked so stupid, and now, people can't imagine playing certain games without it. I can't go back to tapping a button to make someone punch after I played the boxing game in Wii Sports. Fishing games are so much more satisfying with the Wii controller. World of Goo would suck without the controller (playing it with a mouse just isn't the same). Now Microsoft and Sony are scrambling to duplicate it with their own versions. The Sixaxis controller seems like an afterthought, whereas the Wii was designed from the ground-up with the gameplay in mind."

I didn't conduct this interview, own it, nor own nor create the website is which the interview came from.

Do you agree with him or not?

Dear Cybknight:

How much is the trade-in value for Mario Kart Wii with the Wii Wheel?

Thank you if you can answer my question.

What a typical argument in blogspot sounds like.

The sad thing is that it just might be true.

I didn't make this video nor do I own it in any way, shape, or form.

I made a new blog

http://vgreviewcenter.blogspot.com/

Sorry if I'm late, but a few days ago, I made a new blog. It's called "Vg Review
Center." The link is at the top of this post. The name sounds very generic, but I might change it soon. if you don't know already, it focuses on video game reviews. There'll surely be more reviews soon.

Last, but not least, the new title of this blog will be called "Green of Forest." See if you can correctly guess where the reference originally came from.

Edit: I changed my 2nd blog's name to "Station Obsolete"

King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga

I have gotten The King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga at Gamestop for only $20 on Sunday. Here's my thoughts on each of the games on the collection.

KOF '94- It's pretty hard even when you turn the difficulty setting to 1 (easiest.) I'll probably play this again. I might change my mind

KOF '95- Very hard even on the easiest difficulty setting. I don't know if I'll play this again anytime soon. probably not.

KOF '96- The challenge has been toned down quite a bit. Haven't played it much, but from what I had seen, it's pretty great.

KOF '97- After playing this game, I really liked this game, best game on the collection I've played thus far. Difficulty is just right.

KOF '98- Haven't played it yet.

I liked how you can unlock artwork, arranged & original music to listen to anytime, & even secret characters! Unfortunately, there's no option to listen to the arranged music while you play a game on the collection.

Overall a great collection. Here's some gameplay videos of the games on the collection.

Keep in mind that I did not make any of these these videos & I don't own any of these videos either.

My opinions on Xbox 360

Some of you probably know that I like the Wii. I think this year is a great time for a Wii owner (see "Wii Games I'm planning to get on this year." Some of you probably will ask me what's my opinion on the Xbox 360.

Well read on:

My initial impressions of Xbox360 when it 1st came out weren't really good. I keep thinking that it was "all good graphics-not much good gameplay". Well, my impressions have changed a lot, but even now, I still don't like it that much, but for completely different reasons.

The 1st thing that bothered me about the 360 is that its backward compatability is pretty bad. A lot of Xbox games arn't compatible with the Xbox 360, & even if they are, most of them have glitches & slowdown. I was planning on getting SVC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom Chaos, & Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay when neither of them were compatible with Xbox 360. Oh well, not going to buy an Xbox just for those 2 games.

I haven't used XBLA, how good is it? I'm planning on getting TMNT: The Arcade game & Mr. Driller online.

I haven't really used Xbox Live that much, but from what I seen, it's pretty good. I personally prefer PC for online gaming though.

One thing that really bothers me however, is that the range of software for it doesn't cover a lot of genres that much. Sure, there's a ton of FPS's, Racing, Sports games & Strategy games, but what about JRPG's, fighting, etc? It might change later in the 360's life though.

Last, but not least. I think the controller is pretty good. It's D-pad however, is really atrocious in design.

That's all I can think of for now. I may update this post later on.
